Advice

Taking care of you and your family is important to us - whether you’re panicked with an in-the-moment service need or you’re making future plans for heating, cooling or plumbing maintenance.

Whatever the need, you can always expect a calm, friendly and helpful response when you contact us. Many of these important first conversations with you start with answering your questions about our approach and our services.

So, what are the five most common questions we hear from customers? In this blog post, we’re answering those for you!

‍What does the simplified service plan include? ‍

Our SSP (simplified service plan) includes two cleanings per year (one in the fall/winter and one in the spring/summer), a 10% discount on all repairs, priority scheduling, reduced service call rate ($30 off), and The SSP Loyalty Discount, which is $100 off of a new system purchased from Charlotte Mechanical for every year of consecutive SSP renewal.

How much is a service call?

‍That is simple - it is either $89 for a non-SSP customer or $59 for an SSP customer. Also, day and/or night pricing is exactly the same.‍

What does a service call/diagnostic fee cover?

‍The service call/diagnostic fee covers the costs of sending a highly-trained service technician to your house to diagnose the cause of your HVAC problems. Then, the technician will quote all work to you for signature approval before any billed work starts.

You have 30 days to call back after a service call if another problem or additional problems pop up - at NO charge. Any and all repairs performed by Charlotte Mechanical have a one-year parts and labor warranty.

‍Does the diagnostic cost apply towards repairs?

‍No, the diagnostic cost covers the time and material for a technician to come to your house and troubleshoot the problem. It does not include any of the repair work or parts.

‍What is done during a maintenance visit?

‍At Charlotte Mechanical, we clean both the indoor and the outdoor coil. You don't want your family breathing in air that comes through a dirty coil.

(Fun fact: Did you know that very few companies clean the indoor “Evaporator” coil?)

Our technicians conduct two different maintenance checks - a cooling check during the spring/summer, and then a heating check in the fall/winter.

Here’s everything we do for you during the cooling spring/summer seasonal check:

  • Clean condenser coil
  • Check all electrical components on outdoor unit
  • Check electrical devices in use for AC mode on the indoor unit
  • Remove leaves from outdoor unit
  • Check temperature splits and static air pressure
  • Check blower wheel
  • Verify correct airflow settings
  • Brush drain trap at unit
  • Check and test water overflow safeties (Special note: There should be multiple)
  • Check air filters
  • Check refrigerant pressures

Here’s everything we do for you during the heating fall/winter seasonal check:

  • Clean evaporator coil
  • Check all electrical components on indoor unit
  • Check temperature splits and static air pressure
  • Check blower wheel
  • Verify correct airflow settings
  • Brush and flush drain trap
  • Check test water overflow safeties
  • Check air filters
  •  HP only: Check outdoor unit
  • Gas Furnace only: Test all safeties and gas pressure; check for gas leaks at HVAC equipment; take CO readings
